Some quick facts about occipital neruralgia. 

- This type of headache is caused by irritation of the nerves that come out the top of the neck. 

- The pain can feel like it is starting at the top of the neck and going into the back of the head. 

- For some people it can then travel around to the forehead. 

- The pain can be throbbing, aching, stabbing, burning or sharp. 

- The pain could be just on one side or on both. 

- Sensitivity to light or sound can also be present. 

So how do you know if you've got occipital neuralgia and what can you do about it?

The first thing you should do is visit someone who is trained in the diagnosis and treatment of occipital neuralgia as well as other types of headaches.
